How Signology works

Signology turns your birthday into a short reading: your Sun sign, your numbers, the Moon you were born under and the chapter of life you're in. Everything is computed, so you can check it.

Where the sky comes from

The Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source library checked against NASA JPL data. For life chapters, Saturn and Uranus come from NASA JPL's DE421 ephemeris, and Chiron from JPL Horizons.

Signs use the tropical zodiac, the one most Western astrologers use. A life chapter such as a Saturn return is in season while the planet is within one degree of the point that marks it: where it stood when you were born or, for the Uranus opposition, the point opposite.

Where the numbers come from

Your life path, personal year and name number follow Jean Simpson's published method. Your personal year runs from one birthday to the next. Master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are shown when they appear as the digits are added up.

Name numbers use the Pythagorean letter chart. Names in Cyrillic use the Cyrillic chart from Russian-language numerology, a separate tradition.

What the readings are for

The meanings come from astrological and numerological tradition. We write them as prompts for reflection: a strength to notice, a question to sit with, a small step to take. They never predict what will happen, and they never replace medical, mental health, legal or financial advice.

AI and the people behind it

Celeste, the presenter in our videos, is an AI-generated character. Our reading texts were drafted with AI assistance and checked against our editorial rules. The calculations themselves are plain code that gives the same answer every time.
